MY STORY

A small- town girl with a big voice and story to tell Katelann Maree is a country music singer- songwriter based in Miles on the Western Downs in Queensland Australia. Katelann Maree grew up in a very musical family where it laid prominent on both sides. She discovered her own passion for writing and performing music from a young age when she was handed down her Grandad’s Guitar after he sadly passed away. Katelann always knew that music was what she wanted to pursue, thus, as a child, she played passionately and with so much vibrancy in many of Qlds and NSWs country music festivals covering songs from the likes of Kasey Chambers, Taylor Swift and The Chicks to name a few. In her younger years she won the Telstra Road to Tamworth which gave her the determination to want to further her career and become even more recognised for her talents.  In 2020 Katelann was handpicked alongside 29 other amazing artists from around the world to take part in the renowned County Music Academy of Australia, located in Tamworth the Country Music capital of Australia. Taking part in the academy gained her the knowledge and experience she needed into the business side of the industry. Katelann describes this experience as purely invaluable.

Katelann is currently taking her passion to new heights with her first releases on the way.  Launching her upcoming EP later this year titled, Different Kind of High, which was produced by Catherine Britt at Rag Tag Studio’s on the Sunshine Coast and at The Moon Room in Brisbane with some of Australia’s top country music’s musicians. The EP features her debut single, Grandad’s Guitar which is out now on iTunes and all major streaming platforms. The single shows off her fine artistry and depicts her life’s musical journey. Other songs featured on the EP were also co-written alongside Catherine Britt and Melody Moko who are both Golden Guitar Winners and reputable singer-songwriters within the Australian Country Music scene. Katelann undoubtably stands out from a crowd with her strong penchant for storytelling within her songs. With smooth flowing melodic hooks that she blends with genius wordplay, she produces music that remarkably appeals to a wide range of listeners. Katelann's vocals have reminiscent sounds similar to that of Emmielou Harris, Dolly  Parton and Kasey Chambers, but she also holds a unique essence from her pop influence Christina Aguilera. It’s taken courage and a slight boldness from Katelann with her Debut EP set to come out as she speaks out about her encounters of domestic violence in the song Different Kind of High which she undoubtedly delivers fearlessly.

In 2020 Katelann was fortunate enough to be invited to go on tour with Catherine Britt, for her Bush Pubs Tour where she had the privilege of being the opening act for some of her shows. Then sadly the pandemic struck and put a hold on the rest of Katelann’s year plan but instead of dwelling on the negatives she promised herself she would use the rest of 2020 wisely for her music and pushed forward by taking vocal lessons and songwriting sessions with Australia’s very own Lyn Bowtell. Katelann also used this time to co-write with many other artists, two of them being Jake Davey and Elisha Franchesca who she met whilst attending the Academy and both of them have been making waves in the country music scene with their releases this year.

Katelann is very passionate about inspiring other people through her music and telling stories that her fans can relate to which are elements that make her music so appealing to listen to. When she’s not composing new music or playing her ever-present guitar at home, Katelann enjoys teaching music, and gratifying her passions for fitness as a professional fitness trainer. While we’re yet to see much from Katelann Maree, we can’t go wrong by stating that her future in the country music industry is foreseeably great!
